Mahihkan means Wolf. This painting symbolizes the Wolf in Plains Cree teachings, to recognize our place within the larger whole. We are all equal, value cooperation & loyalty, and live harmoniously with others and nature through kindness and consideration.
How to pronounce Mahihkan:
mah – like ma in mama
HEE – like he
kun – like can but with a softer “u” sound
So together: mah-HEE-kun, means Wolf
